What is business mentoring?

Having a business mentor isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. If you’re serious about building a business that works for you, the single biggest thing you can do is get help.

A brain to pick

Building a better business is hard. You need somebody in your corner who has the knowledge and experience to help you reach your goals.

An ear to listen

Sometimes you need to sound off and have somebody listen. Talking an issue through with someone who understands is often where the answer appears.

A push in the right direction

It’s easy to go off on a tangent. You need somebody to keep you, and your business, heading in the right direction.

The KAD approach

Three things hold most business owners back

My mentoring is built around fixing all three: Knowledge, Accountability and Direction.

Knowledge

The problem: gaps in marketing, systems and processes, or understanding the numbers in your business.

How I help: full access to my e-learning system and step-by-step strategies, plus 1-2-1 guidance on applying them.

Accountability

The problem: you’re your own boss, so nobody makes sure the important things actually get done.

How I help: regular sessions that hold your feet to the fire, so you do what you said you’d do.

Direction

The problem: no clear goals, or no plan to reach them. If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.

How I help: we agree goals that inspire you and build a growth plan to get you there.

How it works

Every business is different, so we start with the issues that matter most to yours.

  1. A no-pressure 1-2-1

    A get-to-know-each-other meeting to see whether we’re a good fit. I personally guarantee it’s not a high-pressure sales session.

  2. Your discovery meeting

Usually a good couple of hours, where we look at the four systems in your business. You leave with a growth plan tailored to you.

  3. Monthly mentoring and support

We meet every month to work through your plan, and you have support by email in between, whenever you need it.

The four systems we look at

OperationsHow the work gets done
FinanceWhether it was worth doing
ManagementHow your systems and people are run
MarketingHow you win and keep customers

Why work with me?

My approach

There’s no one-size-fits-all programme. We start with the most urgent issues we agree on together, using resources built up over 30 years in business [CHECK].

My attitude

What you see is what you get. I’m down to earth and focused on results, and I’m looking for a lasting relationship that works for both of us, not a quick sale.

My support

Business doesn’t wait for your monthly session. You can get my help in those critical moments, not just when we’re booked to meet.

Is business mentoring right for me?

Who is mentoring for?

Ambitious small business owners who want to build a better, more self-managing business and are open to change. To run a successful business you need to be engaged, your business needs good systems, and you need someone to hold you accountable. Mentoring helps with all three.

Is there anyone you can’t help?

Yes. I can’t help businesses that are too far gone, or owners who aren’t open to change. That’s one reason we start with a 1-2-1, so we can both be sure it’s a good fit.

How long do I need to sign up for?

There’s an initial three-month term. After that you can cancel at any time with 30 days’ notice.

Where do the sessions take place?

Online, by video call, so you can join from your office or wherever suits you.

Why do you limit the number of clients?

So every client gets the time and attention they need. I take on only a few new clients a year and never work with more than ten at once.

What happens at the first 1-2-1?

It’s a chance to get to know each other, talk about your business and where you’d like it to be, and decide whether mentoring is right for you. It’s not a high-pressure sales session.

Don’t let another day go by without taking action

Book a 1-2-1 and let’s talk about your business and where you want it to be. There’s no risk and no pressure, just an honest conversation about whether I can help.

I take on only a few new clients each year.
